Years after he blew up on the rap scene as a member of the Queens-based outfit G-Unit, rapper Lloyd Banks released his third solo album Hunger For More 2, the sequel to 2004’s Hunger For More. Now, with a messy label dispute behind him, the hard-hitting Beamer, Benz or Bentley lyricist has his eyes on the prize and his feet facing forward.
To Banks, time heals all wounds and rather than harping on issues of the past, including stale inner and outer crew beefs with his famed group mates and fellow New York City hip-hop collection Dipset; his focus remains on growing as an artist, making the best music possible and most importantly, learning from past mistakes.
Recently, Banks exclusively spoke with Yo! Raps about building his own brand, the new album, reuniting with Young Buck and The Game, and ultimately how he was able to squash the beef and keep it moving, all while providing some necessary advice to younger rap upstarts.

(AllHipHop) – Rap star Flo Rida has teamed with liquor company Nuvo to help promote the brand of alcohol.
The rapper will be featured in an upcoming advertising campaign supporting the popular brand, which has been named checked in songs and videos by artists like Keri Hilson, Travie McCoy, T-Pain, Jamie Foxx and of course, Flo Rida.
Flo Rida recently held a photoshoot for the campaign at a restaurant in the Catalina Hotel on South Beach. Flo, who showed up very late for the shoot, is featured surrounded by a bevy of beauties in the ad campaign.
“No matter what you enjoy to drink, you can never go wrong with havin’ a Nuvo bottle at your table in the club, or at home in your refrigerator for after work or that special occasion,” Flo said in support of his new deal with Nuvo.
In an upcoming interview with Hip-Hop Weekly, Nuvo’ Executive VP Mark Williams elaborates on the new deal and co-signed Flo Rida’s affinity for the liquor.
“He fell in love with the product, and that’s the type of artist we would like to work with. We don’t want you to be a part of our lifestyle or our team unless you really like the brand,” Williams told Hip-Hop Weekly.

MIAMI – Grammy-winning singer Buju Banton checked out some cocaine, put some on his finger and tasted it — all of it caught on law enforcement video inside a Florida warehouse. Now he has another chance to explain why.
His second trial is scheduled to begin Monday, just a day after his 2010 album “Before the Dawn” won the Grammy award for best reggae album. The trial comes five months after a previous jury hung on federal drug trafficking charges that could put him in prison for life.
Banton, whose real name is Mark Myrie, claims he was entrapped by a confidential informant and got in over his head while trying to impress the man, who implied he could help Banton’s music career. The U.S. government says Banton conspired with two associates to buy a shipment of cocaine from an undercover officer.
The two other men pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with investigators. Their sentencing hearings are scheduled next month.
Banton, 37, was arrested in December 2009 at his Miami-area home.

That item of jewelry wasn’t the typical bling you’d expect to find on a rapper — it was Eminem’s Alcoholics Anonymous pendant. Eminem was accepting the award for “Recovery,” an album that viscerally details his past drug and alcohol problems, so it was nice to see him bring a piece of his own personal road to recovery to the Grammy spotlight.

Don’t act like I never told you? Rozay? It had to happen. This excellent issue drops March 1. I’m back like I left something. I love this rap game.

Mr. Sean “Diddy” Combs covers the February/March issue of The Source Magazine. In this magazine, Diddy discusses his ambition his music as well as the meaning of Black Power The mega-mogul also talked about the challenge and responsibility of being one of the most influential African-Americans in America as well as his thoughts on President Obama:
I love the president like most of us. I just want the president to do better. There is a difference between us voting for somebody and us believing in somebody. He is the person that we believed in so I pray night and day that he understands how God ordained his presidency. I feel there was a promise made to God to look after people that was less fortunate, and [many] of those people are African-American…
